Terms of Use

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the ROVUN app.

If you are below the age of majority where you live, you must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to use ROVUN. They must review these Terms with you.

You may not use ROVUN if you are under 16.

You may not use ROVUN where doing so would violate applicable law.

2. Your account

Provide accurate account information and choose a username and display name you have the right to use.

Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation, or use someone else’s account without authorization.

Protect the Apple or Google account you use to sign in and the devices on which you use ROVUN. Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. These Terms do not make you responsible for unauthorized activity where applicable law provides otherwise.

3. Run safely

ROVUN is a recreational fitness and competition service. It is not a medical service, emergency service, or guarantee of safe navigation.

Running involves risks, including injury, traffic, weather, terrain, and encounters with other people or animals.

When using ROVUN:

• Follow traffic rules and local laws.
• Respect private property and restricted areas.
• Check your surroundings rather than relying solely on the map.
• Do not look at or interact with your phone where doing so would be unsafe.
• Do not enter an unsafe area or continue an unsafe activity to obtain a claim or improve a ranking.
• Stop exercising and seek appropriate help if you feel unwell.
• Consult a qualified healthcare professional where appropriate before beginning or changing an exercise routine.
• Do not rely on ROVUN to contact emergency services or ensure someone knows your location.

4. Territory is a game mechanic

A ROVUN territory claim is a virtual game status.

It does not give you ownership of a street, control over a public space, permission to enter property, or a right to restrict anyone else’s access.

Other users may change territory standings through eligible activity. Claims, rankings, and achievements can also change because of synchronization, corrections, rule updates, or technical issues.

5. Tracking and estimates

Distance, pace, time, energy estimates, map geometry, and territory calculations may be affected by GPS quality, device settings, operating-system behavior, connectivity, and other limitations.

Background recording is intended to support active runs, but uninterrupted operation and complete recovery cannot be guaranteed. Force-quitting the app, turning off the device, withdrawing permissions, or system interruptions can prevent recording.

ROVUN does not guarantee that every run will be accepted, every street will be claimable, or every measurement will be accurate.

Do not use ROVUN measurements for medical decisions or other purposes requiring certified accuracy.

6. Fair use and prohibited conduct

You must not:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or target another person.
• Use territory information to identify someone’s home, routine, or whereabouts for harmful purposes.
• Publish another person’s private information without a lawful basis.
• Upload unlawful, abusive, discriminatory, or infringing content.
• Use a vehicle, location spoofing, fabricated GPS records, or other dishonest methods to represent activity as a genuine run.
• Manipulate claims, statistics, accounts, or rankings.
• Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, private routes, systems, or data.
• Scrape or combine public activity information to track individuals or build personal profiles without authorization.
• Disrupt the service or bypass security and access restrictions.
• Misuse reporting or support channels.

7. Your content and public activity

You retain the rights you hold in content you provide to ROVUN.

You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to provide the service, support your requested features, protect the service, and comply with law.

For content designated as public, this includes displaying it through profiles, maps, rankings, and territory activity.

This license does not authorize us to publish private run notes or photos as marketing material. Any separate use of your content for promotional purposes requires an appropriate permission or legal basis.

Only provide content you have the right to use. Consider other people’s privacy before adding or sharing photos.

Public territory activity can reveal information about your movements. Review the Privacy Policy before using competitive features.

8. Reports and enforcement

You can raise a safety or conduct concern through the Support page.

We reserve the right, where lawful and proportionate, to investigate misuse, correct invalid activity, restrict access, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create material safety or security risks.

Where appropriate and legally required, we will provide notice and an opportunity to challenge a decision. Immediate action may be necessary for serious security, safety, or legal reasons.

ROVUN does not provide emergency monitoring or guarantee continuous review of activity.

9. Third-party services

ROVUN relies on third-party services for functions such as authentication, maps, street information, hosting, and Apple Health integration.

Those services may have their own terms and privacy policies. Their availability and accuracy are outside our complete control.

Availability of Apple Health integration does not guarantee compatibility or synchronization with every fitness app or wearable.

10. Service changes

We may modify the service to improve functionality, address security or legal requirements, or change how features operate. Where required by law, we will provide notice of material changes.

Do not treat ROVUN as your only record of information you cannot afford to lose.

11. Ownership of ROVUN

ROVUN’s branding, software, interface, and original materials belong to us or our licensors.

These Terms give you a limited right to use the service for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of our intellectual property or permit you to imply that we endorse your product or activity.

Third-party materials remain subject to their respective licenses and attribution requirements.

12. Stopping use and deletion

You may stop using ROVUN at any time.

Signing out or uninstalling the app does not automatically delete your backend account or records. See the Privacy Policy for how personal information is handled and how to submit a request.

We may suspend or discontinue access where permitted by these Terms and applicable law. Any retention of personal information remains subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

13. Service limitations and legal rights

We aim to provide a useful and reliable service, but cannot guarantee continuous availability, error-free operation, or complete accuracy.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided on an “as available” basis.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or any other liability protected by mandatory law. Nothing removes mandatory consumer rights or remedies.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.

Subject to mandatory applicable law, the courts of British Columbia, Canada have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ROVUN.

Nothing in these Terms deprives you of mandatory consumer protections or any right to bring a claim before another court or tribunal available under applicable law.

Please contact support@rovun.app if you would like to raise a concern before starting proceedings. Contacting us is not a condition that removes or delays your legal rights.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version will be published on this page.

Where required, we will notify you of material changes and obtain agreement before those changes apply. If you do not accept updated Terms, you may stop using the service.
